E-Training toolkit for managers of sustainability for the integration of the circularity strategy in the hotel sector.

The CIRCULAR4Hospitality project: ‘E-Training toolkit for managers of sustainability for the integration of the circularity strategy in the hotel sector’, led by FEHM and collaboratively supported by partners from Turkey, Greece, and Italy representing technology, professional training, and hospitality sectors, is a pioneering initiative designed to:

  • Educate professionals in the hotel and tourism sector, as well as future professionals and vocational training centers, on the practical implementation of circularity strategies within the hotel industry.

 

  • Encourage the integration of circularity principles into the curricula of vocational training centers within the hotel sector. This proactive approach ensures that aspiring professionals encounter and engage with circular practices early in their education, rather than solely upon entering the workforce.

About the project

The overarching goal of the CIRCULAR4Hospitality project is to facilitate the integration of technological solutions in managing circular practices within hotels and Vocational Training centers. In pursuit of this ambitious objective, the project seeks to advance further by ensuring that circularity becomes a fundamental component of vocational training center plans. To achieve this, the following initiatives will be established:

Digital training tools in different languages (English, Greek, Turkish, Italian and Spanish).

  • A sustainability manager course for the integration of the circularity strategy in the hotel sector.

This training material will be distinguished by its innovative features:

  • Accessible through an e-learning platform for widespread availability and convenience.
  • Equipped with comprehensive teaching aids designed for both educators and learners.

Enhanced by the creation of an interactive GAME, serving as a SELF-LEARNING tool. This unique resource will provide invaluable support to students and industry professionals, guiding them through the implementation of circularity plans within hotel environments.

CIRCULAR4Hospitality is committed to embedding circularity into the foundation of hospitality training, ensuring that workers in the sector encounter it as a core module, not just upon entering the workforce but as an integral part of their educational journey.

The constant objective and ultimate achievement of CIRCULAR4Hospitality is to seize opportunities to enhance its visibility and promote awareness among institutions, hospitality sector leaders, and influential stakeholders. By doing so, the initiative aims to mobilize efforts towards addressing challenges associated with circular progress in the sector and facilitating the integration of circularity strategies within the hotel industry.

With almost 50 years of experience, the Hotel Business Federation of Mallorca is the dean of tourism business associations in Spain, and the cradle of tourism as an industry worldwide. The hotel plant attached to the FEHM is made up of 860 establishments and 200,000 beds, representing 15% of the national total. The more than 3,000 million euros invested in the reconversion carried out in the last 12 years have resulted in the share of 4 and 5 star establishments increasing from 33% to 70%. Today 7 out of 10 hotels in Mallorca are 4 and 5 stars.

Green Village

Green Village is a tourism and hospitality SME in the seaside town of Xylokastro. Since 1993 GV has hosted guests from across the world and has promoted sustainable regional development and environmental awareness through various activities. The last few years GV has been implementing practices and trainings related to sustainable tourism through its participation in relevant EU funded projects.

AMTAL

Akçakoca Vocational and Technical High School is a public vocational highschool which provides formal education in the field of Tourism. It is located in Kartepe Kocaeli, 100km away from İstanbul. Kartepe is one of the most visited winter tourism center in Turkey , with its beautiful surrounding plateaus, canyons and healing water in Maşukiye. Kartepe welcomes also hiking enthusiasts who want to explore the scenic beauty of the region or nature lovers who engage in outdoor sports in any season.
